What is the longevity of your Exterior Oil?
It depends on many factors including amount of direct sunlight, shade, precipitation, 1–2 coats applied, and which Exterior Oil color was applied. Oil colors with more pigment have greater UV protection. We recommend your exterior oiled surfaces are assessed on a yearly basis.
Can I mix or layer Exterior Oil?
Yes, you can mix the WOCA Exterior Oil colors to make your own customized color. You can also add layers of the same or different colors.
Do I have to apply a topcoat over Exterior Oil?
No, you do not need to add a topcoat over WOCA Exterior Oil. Exterior Oil is a stand-alone finishing oil that is specifically designed for use on outdoor wood.
Can I use a pump-up sprayer to apply Exterior Oil?
Yes, you can use a pump-up sprayer to apply WOCA Exterior Oil. Just make sure you wipe off any excess within 5 minutes.
Should I apply 1 or 2 coats of Exterior Oil?
For domestic wood species, 2 coats of WOCA Exterior Oil will give you a richer color and better overall protection and durability.
Exotic wood species are naturally oily to begin with, therefore 1 coat of WOCA Exterior Oil is usually sufficient.
Is WOCA Exterior Wood Oil water and weatherproof?
Exterior wood that has been oiled and maintained properly with WOCA Exterior Oil is water-resistant and protected from the harsh outdoor elements
How often do I have to do maintenance on my Exterior Oil deck?
The frequency of maintenance on your oil treated exterior deck depends on many factors including amount of direct sunlight, shade, precipitation, wood species, which color of WOCA Exterior Oil was applied and how many coats were applied. The Exterior Oil colors with more pigment have greater UV protection. We recommend assessing your deck yearly.
Can I use WOCA Exterior Oil indoors?
WOCA Exterior Oil is formulated for use on outdoor wood, therefore, it should not be used on indoor wood or projects. For interior wood, please use one of the WOCA Interior Finishing products.
The oil doesn't seem like it's dry yet. It's showing footprints.
If your wood surface does not seem like it is dry, or if it is showing footprints, then there is too much oil on the wood surface. Wipe or polish off with a white 3m polishing pad.
